Biography: 
Dr. Deepak Raj Bhat has a BE in Civil Engineering from Pokhara University, Nepal, and ME in Civil (Geotechnical) Engineering and PhD in Civil (Geotechnical) from Ehime University, Japan. Moreover, he has worked as a JSPS Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the field of geotechnical earthquake engineering in Gunma University, Japan and also as an Assistant Professor in Tribhuvan University and Kathmandu University, Nepal. Currently, he is working as a Chief (Research) Engineer in Engineering Division of Okuyama Boring Co. Ltd., Japan.

Dr. Bhat has over 10 years of academic, research and industry experience in the field of geotechnical engineering. He has published (authored or co-authored) 33 peer reviewed papers, 26 national and international conference proceedings and 7 technical reports. In addition, he has also presented his research works more than 25 national and international symposiums, conferences, seminars, workshops and congresses as a guest speaker and oral presenter, and recipient of several awards in geotechnical engineering. Moreover, he has been the PI or Co-PI of approximately US$365,800 in research/project funding from several entitles over the past 10 years. Apart from teaching, mentoring and research experiences, He has also worked as a geotechnical engineering/earthquake engineering/natural disaster expert and a senior civil and geotechnical engineer in several industries and national and international collaborative research projects.
