Biography: 

Yitong Shen received her Bachelor of Science Degree in 2017 in Zhejiang Normal University whose major was Applied Psychology. During her undergraduate, she was awarded for outstanding graduation in Department of Education, Special Award by Headmaster for graduation in 2017 and a scholarship for outstanding students in 2014 by Zhejiang Normal University. She is a certified psychological teacher for secondary and primary school, psychological counsellor, mandarin proficiency test, computer second level. She had also worked as an honorary psychological teacher in Jinhua Occupational Secondary School and Jinhua Beiyuan Primary School from 2015 to 2017.

 

Yitong Shen has graduated with a Msc in Child and Adolescent Mental Health at King’s College London in 2019. Currently, she is a graduate member of British Psychologist Society. During her time in London, she did her clinical placement with the Centre of Interventional Paediatric Psychopharmacology and Rare Disease (CIPPRD) at the Maudsley Hospital in South London. Her main duties involved working on evaluation of needs, assessments, managing high-risk patients, writing neuropsychiatric reports with professional clinicians, complex patients and related workers. She is also familiar with the cognitive and diagnostic assessment tools such as WISC-5 and ADOS-2 that are used in assessing patients with ASD and comorbid disorders.

 

Research wise, she has been working as a research assistant with the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at King’s College London. She has been mainly responsible for the project regards Septo-Optic Dysplasia (SOD). Current study, ‘Effect of Pharmacological and Non-pharmacological Interventions for SOD’, is in process and predicted to publish in February. The main duties involved collecting data and building up database depending on both physiological autonomic via E4 device and behavioural presentation from clinical reports (ePJs). Also, she has monitored follow-ups from patients’ reports such as Profile of Medication Side Effect (POMS), Profile of Neuropsychiatric Symptoms (PONS), Profile of Treatment Response (POTR) and Clinical Global Impression (CGI). She is also currently honoured as a research associate by CIPPRD to continue the project related to SOD.

 

Her research also focused on the ‘Cognitive and Behavioural Correlation in ADHD, ASD and Comorbid ASD+ADHD based on the Tuberous Sclerosis 2000 study cohort – the first population-based longitudinal study of the natural history of Tuberous Sclerosis. Two of the research: ‘The Correlations of Sleep problems in Tuberous Sclerosis Complex – TS2000 project’ and ‘The phenotypes associated with TSC1 and TSC2 mutation type among children and adolescents with Tuberous Sclerosis’ are predicted to be published in February 2019.

 

Regarding her undergraduate studying, her dissertation ‘The relationship between Parenting Style and Frustration Tolerance for Secondary School Students Mediating Effect of Parent-Child Conflict’ has been classified as distinction.

 

In 2017 and 2016, she has finished her another clinical placement and teacher internship in Department of Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Wenzhou Medical University Affiliated Second Hospital and Wenzhou No.12 respectively. Those experiences have broadened her prospective across cultures in mental health.
